Veterinary Technician
The St. Croix Animal Welfare Center is looking for an experienced, self-motivated, enthusiastic team player to join our team as a full-time veterinary technician.
Veterinary technicians work directly under the Medical Director. Each veterinary tech plays an integral part in maintaining the health and wellness of shelter animals, and works with owned animals served by the low-cost Community Clinic.
Applicants must possess excellent animal-handling skills (including the ability and willingness to safely handle aggressive, fractious, or feral animals), and have solid clinical skills for administration of SQ, IM, and IV injections, placement of intravenous catheters, intubation, and surgical prep. Previous experience with high-volume spay/neuter, surgical assistance and monitoring, and/or shelter experience is a plus. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, enjoys a fast-paced work environment, and is able to maintain a high level of professionalism in stressful situations. The position requires a high level of physical activity.
While we are ideally looking to hire for a full-time position, we would love to hear from all highly qualified candidates, including those who may only be available part-time.
To apply, please send cover letter, resume, and three professional references to administration@stcroixawc.org, or deliver in person to our 5 Corners main location, 1C-1D LaGrande Princesse.
