VOLUNTEER!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the St Croix Animal Welfare Center!
We would love to have you join our team! We rely on passionate, dedicated and talented people for much of what we do. Because of you, we have the capacity to promote the humane treatment of animals on St. Croix through humane education, animal protection, and community service.
The goal of the SCAWC Volunteer Program is to create a program that finds the intersection between a volunteer’s interests and the shelter’s needs, while also providing opportunities to develop powerful advocates for the humane treatment of animals in our community. With
your help, we are making that happen!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
- Kennel Volunteer at 5 Corners (where new and rehabilitating animals are cared for before they are ready for adoption.): Socialize, walk, bathe animals, clean, help with laundry
- Pet Place: (where animals ready for adoption are cared for and where people may shop for SCAWC products.): Socialize, walk, bathe animals, clean, help with laundry, greet
customers - Community Clinic Assist in the clinic if you have a medical background or want to be be trained. We always need help restocking, cleaning, organizing the clinic, or helping prep cages and assist with animal recovery of surgery days.
- Foster: For information about our lifesaving foster program, click here.
- Flea Market: Help is needed in accepting donations, sorting, displaying donations, cleaning, dusting and helping customers.
- Special Events: Help at one of the many special events held throughout the year to raise awareness of the work we do and raise money for the SCAWC.
- Regularly Scheduled Collections: Retailers, such as Cost-U-Less, graciously allow us to hold collections regularly often on Saturdays. This is an important way for us to share
information with the public, and to collect much needed items from dog food to cleaning supplies. - Cruise Ship Welcome: This provides another way for us to make connections with animal lovers from around the world, as well as sell t-shirts, tumblers, and collect donations.
- Paws from Paradise: Become a travel escort for a STX animal on his or her way to a ne ofout partner rescue groups on the US mainland and to a permanent adoption into a loving
home. Serve as an Airport Run Volunteer for monthly Air Transport of animals to our partner rescue groups. - Administrative Assistance: Help with data entry tasks and/or basic administrative tasks such as preparing documents, doing data entry, and writing thank you notes to donors, bulk
mailings. - Community Outreach: Help with Pop-Up-Clinics in neighborhoods across STX to provide low cost animal health care and to let people know about the survives we provide.
- Join the Board of the Directors! Contribute to the financial management and long-term strategy of the SCAWC.
